Why this workshop stands apart
This workshop grew out of Os Azulejos do Porto, the project we’ve been running for years to document historic façade tiles before they disappear. It’s more than just painting a tile for a couple of hours: it takes place in a studio where Portuguese tile heritage is part of the daily work.
What you’ll do
We begin with a short introduction to Portuguese azulejos and the painting process. Then you’ll choose a design from our selection of traditional tile patterns, or bring a simple idea of your own if you prefer.
Using stencil and pounce transfer, you’ll prepare the design on the tile and paint two glazed ceramic tiles with our guidance throughout the session. No previous experience is needed.

Tile pickup
We fire the tiles overnight, so they are ready for pickup the next day between 4 and 5 pm at our studio.
Leaving Porto soon? Please check your schedule before booking. If you are unsure whether pickup will work for your trip, contact us first and we’ll tell you honestly.
If pickup is not possible, shipping may be arranged on request after the tiles have been fired. Costs vary depending on destination.
Tiles not collected within 3 months help support our preservation project.
